On November 5, 2010, Fortune reported that Robbins Umeda LLP is in possession of the letter from attorney Gloria Allred to Mark Hurd that accuses the former Hewlett-Packard CEO of sexually harassing her client, Jodie Fisher. On behalf of a client of the firm and shareholder of HP, Robbins Umeda LLP received a copy of the letter. Marc Umeda, partner and co-founder of the law firm, claims that the letter contains no confidential material, and that the public shareholders of HP "should know the contents of the Allred letter and the circumstances surrounding Mr. Hurd's departure from HP.” Mr. Hurd's counsel, on the other hand, has asserted that the Allred letter is confidential and should not be disclosed to the public. Robbins Umeda has allowed Hurd's counsel a limited opportunity to present their legal positions or to file an action against HP seeking to protect the document as confidential.
